Why my Ioniq 5 only gets 100 kW at a Supercharger

Your car is fine and so is the Supercharger. An 800-volt car plugged into a 400-volt V3 stall has to step the voltage up itself, and most cars can only do that at a fraction of their peak rate. The fix is a V4 site with 1,000 V cabinets, and there are 988 of those so far.
The short version
Tesla V3 Superchargers output up to 250 kW at roughly 400 to 500 volts, because every Tesla is a 400 V car. Hyundai, Kia and Genesis (E-GMP), Porsche Taycan and Macan, Audi Q6 and A6 e-tron, Lucid and the 2026 Mercedes CLA use 800 V battery packs. Power is volts times amps, and a V3 post tops out around 500 to 630 amps. To fill an 800 V pack from a 400 V source the car needs an on-board boost converter, and that converter, not the Supercharger, sets the ceiling.

Figures are typical observed values from owner and press charging tests, not guarantees. Your battery temperature and state of charge matter as much as the post.
What fixes it
- V4 cabinets. Tesla's V4 cabinet supplies up to 1,000 volts and 500 kW per stall. An E-GMP car that does 100 kW at V3 does 230 kW at a true V4 site. On ChargeMap these show as a site power above 250 kW, and the V4 list marks them.
- V4 posts on V3 cabinets do not help speed. Many sites have the new long-cable posts but still the 400 V cabinets behind them. They are listed at 250 kW. You get the cable reach, not the voltage.
- Other networks. Electrify America, EVgo, Ionna and most 350 kW CCS stations are 800 V-capable. For a long trip in an 800 V car, mixing networks is still faster than Superchargers alone.
Is it worth using a Supercharger anyway?
Often yes. 100 kW adds about 200 miles an hour to an Ioniq 5, and Superchargers are reliable, plentiful and usually have free stalls. For a 10 to 80 percent session the V3 penalty costs an E-GMP car roughly 15 extra minutes. Pick your car on the map, hide the Tesla-only sites, and look for sites rated above 250 kW when you want the fast version.
